This year’s edition of the summer school for PhD students under the patronage of International Sociological Association ended last Friday (22th September). Please see some chosen photos from that event. In the photos below you can recognize some well-known figures from the field of sociology such as: John Holmwood (University of Nottingham), Simon Mapadimeng (North-West University), Filomin Gutierres (University of the Philippines Diliman), Grażyna Skąpska (Jagiellonian University in Kraków) or Jan Sowa (University of Warsaw). Some lectures were recorded, so if you are interested you will find videos on AMU Institute of Sociology YouTube channel when we post them in October.
Apart from scholarly projects, the program provided many attractions to integrate young researchers. We visited: Old Market Square, Interactive Cathedral Island Heritage Centre of Poznań, and Concordia Design Center. We also went for a walk with a guide to a restored Śródka (one of Poznań districts). Last day the participants had the opportunity to meet the chairman of the Poznań City Council, Grzegorz Ganowicz. At the end, they took part in movie night in Sala Biała in Poznań City Hall.
The event was organized by Sławomira Zbierska-Salameh (Haverford Institute of Public Sociology) and Marek Nowak (AMU Institute of Sociology) and supported by PhD students-volunteers: Agnieszka Nymś-Górna, Natasza Doiczman, Łukasz Koperski, Krzysztof Mączka and Maciej Kośmicki. We would like to thank all of those who attended seminars in Centrum Bukowska and in our Institute: Maja Brzozowska-Brywczyńska, Piotr Matczak, Filip Schmidt, Przemysław Pluciński and Justyna Ochędzan. We are also grateful to Monika Borowska who was responsible for communication with the participants and administrative work.
